The Mathewson School of Education offers several doctoral programs which prepare students for careers that play essential roles to the solution of important educational problems, either through theoretical research or applied pedagogy. Our carefully selected concentrations at doctoral level reflect demands of today’s dynamic and ever-changing job market in the field of education.

Educating future generations and learners of all ages is of paramount importance to the mental health and moral well-being of the society. The faculty and students of the Mathewson School of Education’s doctoral programs conduct researches and lead the applied efforts in the United States, as well as in Europe, in many critical areas of pedagogy, including early childhood education, literacy development, teacher attestation and childhood psychology. Currently several of our faculty members and doctoral candidates are actively engaged in a multinational humanitarian project, the American Teacher Attestation Program, which provides quality American training to school teachers, developmental psychologies and university professors of the fast-developing countries of Georgia and Ukraine.

While valuing theoretical and academic domains, doctoral programs of the Mathewson School of Education place greater emphasis on responding effectively to the diverse learning needs of our national school systems and students. We offer highly concentrated programs, such as Ed.D. in Administration and Policy, to develop quality education specialists with the hands-on expertise in particular sub-fields of pedagogy. Our goal is to help the doctoral candidates work closely with the leading scholars in education and gradually develop their own methodologies and approaches to pedagogy. The Mathewson School of Education’s doctoral programs are designed to create differentiated learning experiences required for success in the 21st century education. The Mathewson School of Education is the only graduate school in the United States that offers the doctoral (Ph.D.) degree in education with the major in Georgian Language and Literature.
