Master of Science in Criminal Justice
OVERVIEW
The Master of Science (M.S.) program in Criminal Justice is a highly specialized curriculum designed for the individuals who want to pursue careers in criminal justice or further their scholastic expertise in a highly specific field of criminology. The program provides a greater degree of focus on the following subfields of the broad discipline of criminal justice: corporate crime, criminal courts, criminal law and procedures, law enforcement, rehabilitation, reentry and recidivism. Select students may also decide to pursue doctoral studies in the science of law (J.S.D.) at Georgian International University and practice their knowledge of law and jurisprudence in an academic and scholastic environment.
FACULTY
The Solon School of Justice boasts of a distinguished faculty. Many of our faculty members have served as high profile attorneys or directors, advisors, counselors and notable executives to governments and/or government units, foundations, public corporations and multinational companies in the United States and Europe. In addition, we regularly recruit high profile experts from international organizations and most illustrious professors from premier universities of Europe, Asia, Middle-East and Africa to serve as adjunct professors or lecturers, in order to share truly international legal, political and economic perspectives with our graduate students.
IDEAL CANDIDATES
Ideal candidates for our M.S. in Criminal Justice program would have achieved high standing in taking an undergraduate study in political science, economics, business, literature, foreign languages, journalism or philosophy at a highly reputable university, and are able to demonstrate their ability to pursue a highly concentrated graduate program in the field of jurisprudence. Our graduates have obtained leadership positions in law offices, government units, public service and multinational corporations, as well as doctoral fellowships in premier universities in the United States and Europe.
GRADUATE CERTIFICATE
Students who complete five courses, but do not finish the entire curriculum in order to meet graduation requirements for the M.S. degree, and decide to drop out of the program, nevertheless will be awarded a Graduate Certificate instead. In order to earn the Graduate Certificate a student must complete three of the principal courses and two courses either from the concentration or the electives.
STUDY ABROAD
The Solon School of Justice offers more than just the traditional online experience. It combines in-class seminars and examinations with online guidance. It provides the M.S. students with valuable extra-curricular opportunities to exchange ideas with high-level public servants, participate in legal and political debates, and attend the ESAP the European Study Abroad Program of Georgian International University which gives our students unique opportunities to study, as well as teach in Europe, and receive full certification and dual degrees from premier European academic institutions. Attending the ESAP program is optional for the M.S. students of International Jurisprudence. Although we believe that participating in the program will help our graduates to become closely acquainted with international legal, as well as scholastic environments.

ADMISSIONS
We admit M.S. students on a quarterly basis. The Solon School of Justice welcomes international students, as well as transfer students from reputable schools of good academic standing into its M.S. programs.
ENROLLMENT REQUIREMENTS
- A transcript(s) with undergraduate GPA of 3.0, or instead a Graduate Record Exam (GRE) test score of 550 on the verbal and 600 on the quantitative portion. In some cases Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) may be also acceptable.
- Two Letters of Recommendation from the school(s) previously attended.
- TOEFL score for international students.

6 Law/Jurisprudence (undergraduate) Credits
Prior undergraduate or graduate courses in which a grade of B- or higher was attained can be used to meet the prerequisites of the program. Areas in which the student does not have prior coursework can have the necessary requirements met by taking the following foundation courses at Georgian International University:
POL 500 – Essential Political Science
LLB 337 – The Law and the Constitution
LLB 101 – Political Science and the Law
Truly exceptional applicants, who do not meet the enrollment requirements, still may be considered for the program. They must be interviewed in person and evaluated by the Graduate Committee. Taking additional prerequisite courses will be a part of the provisional admission. Prospective applicants must take under consideration that the university rarely makes such exceptions.
