The Solon School of Justice places emphases on juridical sciences, international jurisprudence and criminal justice. We offer both, Master of Science (M.S.) and doctoral degree programs. The Solon School of Justice is one of the few schools nationally that offer the rare and coveted doctoral degree in Law ‑ Doctor of the Science of Law, also referred to as Doctor of Juridical Sciences (J.S.D.).
As a student you will gain an understanding of the dimensions and causes of crime, the structure of American and international justice systems, and different philosophies and practices of jurisprudence. Our illustrious faculty is committed to teaching the law and juridical sciences from historical and holistic perspectives: classes on modern justice systems and the Anglo-Saxon legal theory are twined with lectures on the Christian Canon, Solon’s constitutional reforms of antiquity, the moral law, the natural law and the Iberian tradition of jurisprudence.
The Solon School of Justice places especial emphases on the moral foundation and interpretation of the law. The study of jurisprudence is discussed in the light of several scholastic perspectives. The curricula include principles of the natural law, moral and legal reasoning, historical legal institutions and precedents. History of the law is imparted from the legal models, juridical standards and law practices of Numa, Lycurgus and Solon, as well as some Christian patriarch law-givers, including Moses, the Ecclesiastical Law and the subsequent Ecclesiastic Reform of 1103 AD by King Davit the Builder of Georgia, the pressing issues of Legal Terrorism and infringement of personal liberties and individual freedom first voiced by Henry David Thoreau and John Brown in the mid-1800s, now occupying a significant part of legal debates nationally, as well as internationally.
The Solon School of Justice offers more than just the traditional online experience. It combines in-class seminars and examinations with online guidance. It provides the M.S. and doctoral students with valuable extra-curricular opportunities to exchange ideas with high-profile lawyers and prominent legal scholars, participate in ethics, moral and legal debates, take part in international simulation competitions, and attend the ESAP ‑ the European Study Abroad Program of Georgian International University which offers our students unique opportunities to study, as well as teach in Europe and receive full certifications and dual degrees from premier European academic institutions.
